Stephen Brown is the founder of Icon Law. Formerly a partner at Latham & Watkins, he has created this new enterprise to deliver a top-quality, conflict-free service with the ability to offer innovative delivery and pricing as standard. Stephen joined Latham & Watkins in 2003 as the firm’s first employment lawyer in London, where he developed a leading practice, covering employment, pensions and incentives, one of the largest of any legacy US law firm.
With Icon Law, he focuses on supporting Private Equity investors and public and private companies on executive employment law and the structuring of share incentives and management equity arrangements for the Chief Executives, Chairs, Senior Executives and Non-Executive Directors of portfolio companies.
Focused on aligning rewards for the leadership team with the creation of value for investors, Stephen has spent much of his career developing innovative approaches to solve tax, legal and governance problems for leading funds and corporates.
Specialising in advising US investors investing in UK and European assets, he has a unique ability to combine a deep knowledge of employment law and the tax, corporate law and structuring aspects of management incentive arrangements and share inventive plans.

Jamie White is the Chief Operating Officer at Icon Law. Over the past 25 years, he has worked with some of the world’s leading corporate and professional services businesses, from magic-circle law firms, top consulting practices and international banks to private equity, insurance firms and asset managers. Over the last decade, he has launched and led Overture London as its managing director and principal consultant. The business has become well-known as one of the world’s leading advisory businesses in the legal sector, with an enviable roster of class-leading private practices and chambers. It has also supported the launch of over 20 new legal businesses.
Jamie has led global strategy projects across over 30 countries, helped boards identify, protect and nurture business value, and delivered legal business design projects, at the highest level. He is also a partner in Prosperant LLP, where he supports high-profile legal practitioners in launching new practices and existing firms in their exploration of brave new commercial strategies.

Paul Martenstyn is the Chief Commercial Officer at Icon Law, and brings with him over 25 years of experience in legal management. He spent the last ten years in a senior clerking position at the magic circle set, where he developed domestic and international client relationships with the world’s most prestigious litigators and arbitrators. Paul was also responsible for the implementation of one of the most innovative business strategies at the Bar, allowing him to now cultivate and further develop his unique global relationships. This led to an approach to become Managing Director in one of the world’s leading litigation finance houses, Vannin Capital between 2018 – 2020. Paul is also the Chief Commercial Officer at Overture London, helping maintain its position as a leading legal advisory business, and a founding partner at Prosperant LLP.
Throughout his career, Paul has contributed to thought leadership and has been invited to present on a wide range of topics in connection with business development, marketing & strategy, and innovation within the legal landscape. This includes presenting on the global stage at events such as the annual International Bar Association Conference, also at the invitation of COMBAR on excellence in practice management during their annual event. In 2020 Paul was ranked as a Global Thought Leader in Litigation Finance by Who’s Who Legal (WWL). His client service skills, innovative approach, leadership and professionalism have consistently been recognised as market-leading by the Chambers and Legal 500 Directories since 2007.
